University of Michigan Approves Health System Expansion

BRIGHTON, Mich. — The University of Michigan Board of Regents approved an expansion to the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) on Nov. 19, which includes construction of two new facilities.

The first project involves building the new $175 million Brighton Health Center South in Brighton. The 320,000-square-foot facility would include multiple exam and operating rooms, pharmacy and special services to pediatric and adult patients as well as radiology and diagnostic imaging and comprehensive cancer services, including radiation and oncology.

Broward County Schools Advances Capital Improvement Program

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The School Board of Broward County, located in Ft. Lauderdale, recently took a significant step in the implementation of it’s $984 million, five-year capital improvement plan. On Nov. 30, the district hired Atlanta-headquartered Heery International to serve as an owner’s representative, helping to manage improvements and renovations throughout the 230-school district.

Arkansas State Begins Construction on Mexico Campus

QUERETARO, Mexico — Construction activity is underway on the privately funded $75 million Arkansas State University campus in Queretaro, located about 200 miles northwest of Mexico City. Arkansas State University Campus Queretaro (ASUCQ), a private business foundation in Mexico, acquired 2,125 acres for the new 370-acre campus, which will include commercial, residential and recreational components for up to 70,000 residents. When the project is completed, Arkansas State (A-State) will be the first comprehensive U.S. university in Mexico with an American-style campus.
