Nearly 170 tons of vinyl wallcovering have been reclaimed and recycled by the Second-Look Recycled Wallcovering program since 2007. The program reclaims vinyl wallcovering of any make, and covers the cost of freight for customers ordering new wallcoverings that want to recycle their old product. New products from the company contain at least 20 percent recycled material.

Surface iQ, a line of non-vinyl wallcoverings by Len-Tex Corporation, is certified to meet the Collaborative for High Performance Schools criteria. Any school that uses the Surface iQ line is eligible to receive points under Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 2.2. The wallcoverings contribute to cleaner air by eliminating PVC, heavy metals and chlorine and using water-based inks, according to the company.

The Steel It is a stainless steel epoxy system from Stainless Steel Coatings Inc. that protects above-water structures from water, salt air, detergents and solvents. It consists of an epoxy primer and finish coating with a 316L stainless steel leafing pigment that creates a gray satin finish.


The paint is available in gallon and quart kits, and can be applied by brush, roller or spray gun. It is chip-resistant and forms a protective metallic barrier capable of withstanding a continuous 2,000-hour salt spray test.

The colors, which include Erosion, Patina, Deep Blue, Sierra Red, Oxidation, Titanic and English Cherry, are designed to mimic the natural effects of water, wind, temperature and time erosion.


Intended for use in fascias, sandwich panels, storefronts, soffits, balconies, balustrades and rain screen cladding, the paneling is weather resistant, colorfast, impact-resistant and easy to clean, according to the manufacturer.
