FieldTurf does not depend on an underlying shock pad for resilience and player comfort. Instead, the grass fibers are surrounded and stabilized by the company’s patented mixture of smooth rounded silica sand and rubber granules. Tire rubber is cryogenically frozen, shattered into smooth, clean, rounded particles and sized and shaped to stay “in suspension” with the silica sand. The sand and rubber are precision layered for uniformity.
Sport Court surfaces are designed to offer safe, suspended systems that ease the shock on joints, the company says. The flooring surfaces and multipurpose gyms are versatile enough to switch from volleyball to basketball to non-athletic uses, such as meetings.
Poligras from Sports Technology International, a division of Advanced Polymer Technology, is a synthetic turf sports surfacing and is now available in two distinct formats, Poligras NF and Poligras 2000.
Poligras NF is a 2-inch-plus slit-film polyethylene fiber tufted into a dual layer of woven polypropylene and coated with a durable and stable polyurethane. Poligras 2000 is good for wet playing conditions, the company says, and consists of a 0.5-inch polypropylene fiber tufted into a double primary backing and coated with polyurethane.
Vibra-Whirl Ltd. is the producer and installer of sport surfaces, including Omni Track and Spiketop. The Omni latex all-weather track choices include the Omni System “B,” in which black rubber chips are bound together with a specially-formulated black rubber latex. A black polymeric coating is sprayed on the finish surface, resulting in an entirely black surface.
Bradley Corp. introduces the new Lenox Cubby Lockers, low maintenance storage units suited for schools and day care facilities. The lockers are available in either 60 inch or 72 inch heights, and in a variety of configurations, from two-tier cubbies to six-tier units.
Both boxes are constructed of a single sheet of 3/8-inch-thick high-density polyethylene. Dividers and half-inch-thick frames are welded in place for a seamless fit without screws, rivets, or joints. Lockers are shipped fully assembled.

The polypropylene fiber repels moisture, including sweat and food stains often found in cardio, spinning rooms, weight rooms, stretching areas and childcare facilities. Polypropylene fiber is far more durable than traditional nylon carpet and stands up to free weight and selectorized machines placed directly on it, according to the company.
Dex-O-Tex Gym-Flor II is a synthetic gymnasium floor that, from below, seals out moisture and deterioration while providing resistance to abrasion, chemicals, and moisture from above. The floor also has a low burning rate and negligible smoke production, and is unaffected by prolonged exposure to water, the company says. They also point out that tests show basketball rebound characteristics are practically identical to wood gymnasium floors.
Mondo’s Sport Impact and Ramflex vulcanized rubber surfaces are designed to resist abuse from weights, barbells, and exercise and weightlifting equipment.
Both products contain a heavy-duty wear layer for added resistance and structural elasticity, and a shock absorbent lower layer for safety and comfort. The surfaces have built-in antibacterial properties with a textured traction surface that requires no sealers or coatings.
Sport Impact surfaces come in 12 standard colors and Ramflex is available in 10 colors. Custom colors can by specified.
