Robert Alcalá recently joined GLHN Architects & Engineers Inc. as the electrical engineering department manager. GLHN, based in Tucson, Ariz., provides a variety of services in architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil and technology engineering.


Promoted to the position of vice president of the sales team at Nora Systems Inc., Mike Sage will now manage the company’s sales efforts throughout North America. With over 13 years with the rubber flooring company, Sage obtained leadership skills and extensive product knowledge through his various positions. He joined the company in 2000 as market segment manager for transportation and was later appointed western regional manager and then national sales manager.
Tom Robbins, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, was promoted to the position of associate principal with Yost Grube Hall Architecture (YGH). The appointment is part of YGH’s strive to expand its management group and acknowledge Robbins’ leadership skills, experience and contributions to the company. Robbins’ previous experience includes 20 years of architectural work with various companies.
McCarthy Building Companies has recently hired Jeffrey Lovejoy as the director of business development for health care projects in Newport Beach, Calif. Lovejoy’s responsibilities entail maintaining relations with clients and generating opportunities for healthcare building development in Southern California. His previous background includes 25 years of experience in business development and operations at the executive level with various design-build contractors.
Paul Miley has been named one of the new partners at Piedmont Construction Group. Based in Macon, Ga., Miley begun his work with the company in 2005. Most recently, he served as project manager. A graduate from Georgia Southern University, he was also a general contractor and manager for various construction projects types, including educational facilities.
The newest addition to the sales and preconstruction team at Modular Solutions, Ltd., a provider of prefabricated buildings and space solutions, Bill Sandigo brings over 25 years of experience to this position. With expertise in production, project management, sales, estimating, as well as preconstruction and design services, Sandigo will be responsible for the firm’s southwest region clients involved in the education market.
Former Seattle School Board member Peter Maier is the newest member of the Washington State Board of Education, where he will be instrumental in various assignments, including creating and administering school-performance index and overseeing charter school policies.
Rhonda Ellington is one of the new additions to the supporting network and sales team at school furniture manufacturer Smith System. Now a regional sales manager, Ellington will be responsible for the company’s clients in Texas and Oklahoma. In this role, she is able to connect directly with school districts and architects, as well as support the dealer network in these states.
ANN ARBOR, Mich.
Come this July, Rico D. Munn will be the new superintendent for the Aurora Public Schools district. Having served on the Colorado Board of Education for seven years, Munn also gained experience by serving as a member on the Board of Governors for the Colorado State University System. Most currently, Munn is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is also an attorney at Baker and Hostetler.
